Training Workshop on Modern Trends in Digital Cartography at the University of Misrata

The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the Faculty of Arts – University of Misrata held a training workshop this Thursday morning titled “Modern Trends in Digital Cartography: From Paper Maps to GeoAI”, supervised by Dr. Abdul Azim Salem Maitiq, with the attendance of specialists and students interested in the field.

The workshop focused on the evolution of cartography from traditional paper-based methods to intelligent digital mapping. It showcased tools that assist in the creation and analysis of such maps, including ArcGIS, Drone Mapping, and Web GIS, as well as how drones and artificial intelligence are being used to enhance the accuracy of spatial data.

The workshop also addressed challenges related to digital mapping, such as privacy, accuracy, and legal frameworks, presenting global case studies in crisis management and urban planning. Moreover, it highlighted the essential skills required in the job market.
