Misurata University held its fourth regular University Council meeting for the year 2025 in the meeting hall of the Faculty of Education, chaired by Professor Dr. Mohamed Al-Danfoor, President of the University. The meeting was attended by the Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs, the Secretary-General, the Registrar, Deans of the Faculties, and Directors of Centers and Administrative Departments at the university.

The session began with a review of the minutes from the previous meeting and a follow-up on the educational process across the university’s faculties, in addition to preparations for the upcoming semester for preparatory stages. A report was also presented by the Committee for Monitoring and Evaluating the University’s Scientific Journals.

The council discussed items related to organizational procedures received from the Ministry, most notably the approval of the mechanism and regulations for implementing Decision No. (1470) of 2024 concerning the awarding of the PhD degree through the comprehensive examination and thesis system. Administrative procedures were also addressed, including proposals to change the employment status of certain teaching assistants and staff to that of faculty members.

Other internal matters were also discussed, including the academic performance of the Faculty of Medicine, the possibility of contracting expatriate faculty members for remote teaching in the Italian Language Department, and the proposal to establish a Water Resources Department at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources.

Additionally, the council addressed topics related to students with special needs, the renaming of the Research Ethics Committee to the “Subcommittee on Bioethics at Misurata University,” exemption requests for some students in the Arabic Language and Islamic Studies Departments, and the approval of the training phase for Health Sciences Faculties.

The meeting concluded with the discussion of the first quarterly report issued by the Office of Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation, along with updates on the completion of the Teacher Preparation Program file and the academic requirements of the curriculum at the Faculty of Education.
